The chickpeas patties is prepared with cooked chickpeas along with fresh tomatoes, yes you heard it rite. Tomato is used in making this patties which is later drenched in a red sauce prepared with tomato paste and olive oil.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Patties:
  2. 3Cups Cooked chickpeas
  3. 1 Tomato (medium sized)
  4. 2 Garlic cloves (minced)
  5. 1/2cup All purpose flour
  6. 1/2tsp Baking soda
  7. Salt
  8. Pepper powder
  9. 1/2cup Parsley leaves
  10. For Sauce:
  11. 2tbsp Tomato paste
  12. 1cup Water
  13. 3tbsp Olive oil
  14. Salt
  15. 1/4tsp Sugar
  16. Pepper powder

Instructions

  1. Take the cooked chickpeas, tomato, garlic cloves, baking soda, salt, pepper powder, in a food processor and grind until the mixture turns coarse.
  2. Remove this mixture and take it in a bowl, add the flour 1 or 2 tablespoon at a time and knead with your hands until the mixture turns firm to shape the patties.
  3. Roll the mixture into medium sized balls, flatten them and coat them with a flour.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan , fry the patties on both sides until they turns golden brown, remove and drain the excess of oil with a paper towel.
  5. Heat the tomato paste with olive oil and water in a sauce pan, add the salt, sugar and pepper powder.
  6. Cook until the sauce turns thick.
  7. Spoon the sauce to the chickpeas patties and serve hot.
