About Spinach dal Recipe

This is a dry dish made with spinach and moong dal, which can be served as a perfect side dish with some chapathi.

Spinach dal

Ingredients to make Spinach dal

  • moong dal 1cup
  • spinach [chopped] - 2 cups
  • salt
  • Dry red chillies - 2
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Refined oil/ghee
  • onion [chopped] - 1

How to make Spinach dal

  1. Soak the moong dal in water for couple of hours, then boil in a saucepan until done. Keep aside.
  2. Heat a kadhai with some oil, add cumin seeds, dry red chillies. Stir and then chopped onion.
  3. Saute until translucent and then add the powdered spices. Cook for few seconds and then add the moong dal along with salt.
  4. Then add the chopped spinach leaves, cook until done. check for seasoning and serve hot.
