Spaghetti and meatballs

Ingredients to make Spaghetti and meatballs

  • For Meatballs:
  • 13/4 cup minced meat (lamb/chicken/beef)
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • For Spaghetti sauce:
  • 1/2 cup onion very finely chopped
  • 3 cup tomatoes puree
  • 2 tsp tomato chilli sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • Table salt to taste
  • 13/4 cup Spaghetti cooked as per package instructions

How to make Spaghetti and meatballs

  1. For meatballs: in a big bowl, mix meat, breadcrumbs, parmesan, egg, salt , chili flakes, oregano and parsley
  2. Knead the mixture well and make equal sized balls. Shallow fry the meatballs in olive oil until done on all sides. Keep it aside
  3. For sauce: in a saucepan, heat olive oil , add onions and saute until translucent. Add bay leaf, tomatoes puree. Add salt and mix well
  4. Add tomato sauce and simmer the whole sauce mixture until sauce starts thickening. Add meatballs, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes
  5. In serving plate, add spaghetti, top with meatballs in spaghetti sauce. Garnish with grated cheese,oregano and dried parsley. Serve warm
