About Sev Tameta nu shaak Recipe

It is a khatti meethi tomato curry topped with sev. This is an NONG (no onion no garlic) preparation from Gujarat. The taste of this tomato curry is highlighted by the gramflour sev spread on top.

Ingredients to make Sev Tameta nu shaak

  • Large sized tomatoes- 4
  • oil - 1 tbsp
  • asafoetida - a pinch
  • mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • curry leaves - 8-10
  • salt - 1 tsp or to taste
  • turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Corriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • sugar - 2 tsp
  • besan sev - 2 tbsp
  • chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chopped greenchillies - 1
  • Finely chopped corriander -1 tsp

How to make Sev Tameta nu shaak

  1. In a pan, heat oil and add asafoetida and the mustard seeds. As they crackle add chopped green chillies and curry leaves.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes to it. Then pour a little water, salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and cook for 10 minutes till the tomatoes get tender.
  3. Now add the sugar and cook for another 1 minute.
  4. Transfer to the serving dish and glass. Spread a layer of besan sev or gramflour vermicelli over it.
  5. Garnish it with chopped corriander and enjoy hot with chappati or rice as per choice.

My Tip:

Spread the layer of sev at the time of serving only as they will stay crisp otherwise they will get soggy. You can use any variety of sev whether fine or thick. I have used the medium ones.
