chingri posto is an authentic Bengali dish. chingri eka prawns are cooked in a smooth gravy of poppy seed and coconut.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 500 gm prawns
  2. 1 tbsp panchphoron( Bengali 5 spices mix)
  3. 1-2 dry red chillies
  4. 1 green chilli
  5. 5-6 tbsp poppy seed
  6. 2-3 tbsp grated coconut
  7. musturd oil
  8. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  9. salt and sugar as per taste
  10. some coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. wash the prawns and pat dry. rub them with salt and turmeric.
  2. make a smooth paste of poppy seed, grated coconut and green chilli.
  3. heat the Kadhai. put 5-6 tbsp of musturd oil. when the oil is hot enough add 1 tsp panchphoron. fry till the aroma comes, add the marinated prawns and fry till they are light brown.
  4. add the dry red chilli and fry for few seconds. add the poppy seed paste along with some water. add salt and , sugar according to taste.
  5. add some water . cover and cook till the prawns are done and the gravy reached your desired thickness.
  6. garnish with some coriander leaves.
