ABOUT Kunafa --An Arabian Dessert RECIPE

It’s a popular Arabic dessert — with either cream cheese filling or cream —

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 cups of roasted semolina
  2. 6 tbsp of melted butter
  3. For cream cheese filling:
  4. 1 cup of milk
  5. 7 tbsp of cream cheese
  6. 2 tsp of maida
  7. 2 tbsp of sugar
  8. Sugar syrup:
  9. 1/2 cups of water
  10. 1 cup of sugar Lemon juice (few drops)

Instructions

  1. Loosen the semolina with your hands and then gently mix the melted butter — mix evenly and keep it aside —
  2. Prepare the cheesy layer — Melt 1 tsp of butter in a pan –add flour — roast for 2 minuter or until the raw flavour disappears — add in the milk and stir continuously to avoid any lumps — reduce the flame and stir till it is reduced to a thi
  3. Prepare the sugar syrup: Bring to boil sugar and water in a vessel — add some lemon juice — Stir well and cook on a medium flame over 10 to 15 minutes —
  4. Assembling: Divide the semolina into two half portions — place one half on the base of medium-sized pan ( the pan must be on low flame ) — Pour the cheesy mixture over the base and cover it with the Other half of the semolina —spread evenly
  5. Turn it over with the help of a plate on top of it — once in 5 minutes Alternatively you can bake it at 180 degree centigrade for 30 to 40 minutes ——
  6. Once the Kunafa is done — pour the sugar syrup immediately while it is still hot — let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes —
  7. Using a knife loosen the side and flip it onto a plate —
  8. Garnish it with some chopped pistachio
