About Matar pulao Recipe

Based from avadhi cuisine matar pulao is one of the basic rice recipe from north india, so i have made this with traditional way.

Matar pulao

Ingredients to make Matar pulao

  • Basmati rise soaked for 1 hour 1 cup
  • Peas or matar 1/4 cup
  • ghee 1 tbsp
  • bay leaf 1
  • onion 1 small chopped
  • cumin seed 1/4 tsp
  • cinnamon stick 1/2 inch peice
  • cloves 2
  • cardamom 2
  • salt 2 tsp
  • water 2 cup

How to make Matar pulao

  1. In a wide vessel heat ghee. Add onion and saute till light brown.
  2. Ad whole spices incuding cumin seed and saute for 30 seconds.
  3. Now add fresh peas, cook for few minutes with conitunous stirring.
  4. When peas gets roasted ad salt and water. Cover the lid and cook for more 10 minutes.
  5. When water start boiling add soaked basmati rice. Cover the lid.
  6. Cook on high heat for 5 minutes and 10 minutes on slow flame.
  7. Check with knife whether rice is cooked or not.
  8. If its done, serve with any kind of gravy.
