Ingredients to make khatta mitha Allu karela recipe

  • 2 big long karelas (bitter gourd)fried
  • 2big potato fried
  • 1onion
  • 1 small cup tamarind (imli) extract
  • 1 small cup grated gur (jaggery)
  • water
  • 2tbs oil
  • 2 tsp chilli (mirchi) powder
  • little mustard (sarson)seeds
  • little urad dal (blackgram - split ones)
  • 1 tsp dhania-jeera powder
  • curry leaves
  • salt to taste

How to make khatta mitha Allu karela recipe

  1. Directions Cut the karelas into small pieces of round shape.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds and urad dal.
  3. After it crackles add curry leaves-add onion ,potatoes and karela pieces.
  4. Mix it well and add enough water and keep in simmer.
  5. Meanwhile mix gur in the tamarind juice. When the karela and Allu pieces become nearly soft, add tamarind juice in which gur is dissolved.
  6. Stir it and add salt, chilli powder and dhania-jeera powder.
  7. Mix it well and keep in simmer till done.
