This dosa made with ripe tomatoes are very tasty and does not require fermentation

Thakkali dosai

Ingredients to make Thakkali dosai

  • Idly rice 1 cup
  • Raw rice 1 cup
  • urad dal 1 tablespoon
  • fenugreek 1 teaspoon
  • Ripe tomatoes 4
  • shallots 1 fistful
  • green chillies 2
  • ginger 1/2 inch
  • garlic 4-5 pods
  • curry leaves few
  • coriander leaves 1 fistful
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • jeera 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper 1 teaspoon
  • salt accordingly
  • oil for dosa

How to make Thakkali dosai

  1. TAKE 1 CUP IDLY RICE,1/2 CUP RAW RICE,1 TABLESPOON URAD DAL AND 1TEASPOON FENUGREEK SEEDS
  2. WASH AND SOAK FOR 3 HOURS
  3. GRIND IT
  4. TO A SMOOTH PASTE
  5. TAKE SHALLOTS, TOMATOES, GREEN CHILLIES,GINGER AND GARLIC
  6. ADD THEM IN A BLENDER AND ADD 1TEASPOON JEERA
  7. ADD 1TEASPOON BLACK PEPPER
  8. GRIND TO A SMOOTH PASTE
  9. FINALLY ADD A FISTFUL OF CORIANDER LEAVES AND CURRY LEAVES AND GIVE A WHIP
  10. ADD THE GROUND PASTE TO THE BATTER
  11. ADD ADEQUATE SALT AND MIX WELL
  12. IT SHOULD BE IN DOSA BATTER CONSISTENCY. NEED NOT FERMENT
  13. ADD A PINCH OF ASAFOETIDA AND MIX WELL
  14. HEAT A DOSA PAN AND ADD A LADLE OF BATTER AND SPREAD THIN
  15. ADD OIL COOK AND COOK ON BOTH SIDES AND REMOVE
  16. SERVE THAKKALI DOSAI WIYH COCONUT CHUTNEY
