Ingredients to make Idly vada curry

  • For idly
  • Boiled rice 4 cups
  • urad dal 1 cup
  • salt
  • For vada curry
  • Black channa 1 cup
  • red chilly 4 numbers
  • fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
  • onion finely chopped 2 numbers
  • tomato 2 numbers
  • ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  • red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  • coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • coconut 1/4 cup
  • coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tablespoon
  • salt
  • oil for frying

How to make Idly vada curry

  1. GRIND SOAKED CHANA RED CHILLY AND FENNEL SEEDS COARSELY
  2. MIX SALT
  3. MAKE SMALL VADA AND FRY IN HOT OIL
  4. DON'T FRY IT CRISPY. IT SHOULD BE IN THIS TEXTURE
  5. IN A PAN FRY MUSTARD SEED AND URAD DAL
  6. ADD FINELY CHOPPED ONION
  7. AS ONION CHANGES IT'S COLOUR ADD GRATED TOMATOES
  8. ADD GINGER GARLIC PASTE
  9. MEANWHILE BREAK VADA INTO PIECES
  10. ADD TURMERIC POWDER CHILLY POWDER, SALT, CORIANDER POWDER AND GARAM MASALA
  11. SAUTE FOR TWO MINUTES AND ADD WATER
  12. WHILE BOILING ADD VADA PIECES
  13. COOK IT COVERED FOR TWO MINUTES
  14. GRIND COCONUT INTO FINE PASTE
  15. ADD IT TO THE GRAVY ALSO ADD SOME WATER
  16. GARNISH WITH CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES
  17. SOAK RICE AND URAD DAL FOR 4 HOURS AND GRIND IT AN ALLOW TO FERMENT FOR 6 HOURS. MAKE IDLIES
