Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken(with bones) - 1kg
  2. Onion(finely chopped) - 1 (medium size)
  3. Tomato(chopped)- 2 (medium size)
  4. Ginger garlic paste- 2tsp
  5. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  6. Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
  7. Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp(chopped)
  8. Salt - 1 1/2tsp
  9. Oil - 3tbsp
  10. To saute and grind :
  11. Shallot onion 5-6
  12. Red chilli 6-7
  13. Black pepper- 1tsp
  14. Poppy Seeds- 1/2 tsp
  15. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  16. Coconut(grated) - 1 tbsp
  17. Coriander powder- 2 tsp
  18. Fennel Seeds - 1/2 Tsp
  19. For tempering;
  20. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  21. Cloves 3-4
  22. Cinnamoni 1" piece
  23. Fennel seeds 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. 1.Cut and clean the chicken to bite sized pieces and add 1 tsp of ginger & garlic paste and turmeric powder,1/2 tsp of salt and mix it well.
  2. 2. Meanwhile in a tsp of oil saute the given ingredients given except coriander powder for couple of minutes and put off the fire.Finally add the coriander powder and mix it well.Let it cool down and grind it to a fine paste.
  3. 3. Heat a pan with oil and do the tempering,saute the onion,curry leaves till transparent and add the remaining ginger&garlic paste.Fry it for a minute.
  4. 4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook it till mushy,then goes in marinated chicken and mix it well.Let it cook it a medium flame for 5 minutes and stir it in between.
  5. 5. Now add the ground paste and mix it well,add the salt and 2 cups of water,cook it covered in a medium flame till the chicken gets tender and cooked well.
  6. 6. Finally sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves and put off the flame.
  7. 7. Flavorful Kongunattu Chicken Kulambu is ready.
  8. 8. Serve it with rice,idly or dosa.
