Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Red snapper fish - 1/2 kg
  2. Sesame Oil – 3 tbsp
  3. Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  4. Tamarind – a small lemon size
  5. Shallots / Sambar Onion – 5chopped finely
  6. Tomatoes – 1 medium size chopped finely
  7. Curry leaves a handful
  8. Salt to taste
  9. For Grinding:
  10. Coconut – 1 cup grated
  11. Sambar Onion / Shallots – 10
  12. For Roasting & Grinding:
  13. Dry Red Chillies – 8 to 10 or as needed
  14. Coriander Seeds – 2 tbsp
  15. Cumin Seeds– 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Soak tamarind in water and squeeze to remove the pulp. Strain and set aside. . .
  2. Roast ingredients given for roasting, grind it to a fine paste.
  3. Grind coconut and shallots to a fine paste as well.
  4. Take both the masala in a bowl, add in tamarind juice. Mix well.Masala is ready.
  5. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard seeds and let them sizzle.
  6. Now add in shallots, tomatoes and curry leaves.
  7. Sprinkle some salt and cook for 2 mins
  8. Now add in masala and mix well. Add more water if needed,
  9. Cover and simmer till oil separates
  10. Now add in cleaned fish pieces and cook till fish is done.
  11. Serve hot with rice or idly.

It goes well with boiled rice.
