Bagara Chawal,Khatti dal,Talawa Gosh with spicy Tomato Chutney

Ingredients to make Bagara Chawal,Khatti dal,Talawa Gosh with spicy Tomato Chutney

  • For rice
  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 2 onions sliced
  • oil for frying
  • 1 ten patta
  • 1 big elachi
  • 1 tsp whole Zeera
  • salt to taste
  • mint leaves few
  • FOR KHATTI dal
  • Red Masoor dal 2 cups
  • Gg paste 2 tsp
  • green chillies 1
  • haldi 1 tsp
  • Red chillie 1 tsp
  • turmeric pwdr 1 tsp
  • curry leaves 1 sprig
  • green chillies 2
  • TEMPERING THE dal
  • tamarind pulp(soak 1 big ball of tamarind in water and seive and use the pulp)
  • Whole zeera 1 tsp
  • Rai 1 tsp
  • Dry red chille 2
  • garlic crushed 4 pods
  • FOR MUTTON
  • Mutton 1/2 kg
  • Gg paste 2 tbsp
  • 2 chillies
  • FOR TEMPERING THE MUTTON
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • curry leaves handful
  • Red chillie pwdr 1 tsp
  • turmeric pwdr 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped dhania ,Pudina and green chillies
  • FOR SPICY tomato CHUTNEY
  • tomatoes 8 prefer round ones
  • green chillies 10 to. 12
  • tamarind 1 big ball
  • garlic 5 to 6 pods
  • coriander handful

How to make Bagara Chawal,Khatti dal,Talawa Gosh with spicy Tomato Chutney

  1. FOR DAL
  2. First boil the dal with ginger garlic paste green chillies turmeric pwdr and Red chillie pwr
  3. Once the dal is done,add tamarind pulp salt , curryleaves,chillies and let it boil
  4. Take oil add zeera,rai,red chillies and garlic pods
  5. Pour over the dal
  6. FOR THE MUTTON
  7. Boil the mutton with salt ,ginger garlic paste ,green chillies
  8. Once the mutton is done, dry the mutton water
  9. Take oil add the curry leaves and fry them till crispy.Remove from the oil
  10. In the same oil add the dried mutton pieces and fry
  11. Add red chillie pwdr and turmeric power
  12. Finally add finely chopped dhania,Pudina and green chillies
  13. FOR RICE
  14. Take a pan add oil and add the whole spices
  15. Add onion and fry
  16. When the onion turn transparent,add gingergarlic paste
  17. Add dhania pwdr and salt
  18. Add the rice and fry
  19. Add water and mint leaves and cook he rice till done
  20. FORNTHE TOMATO CHUTNEY
  21. Take the tomatoes add green chillies add water and let the tomatoes cook till all mushy
  22. Once cool grind the Chutney with a small ball of tamarind,hand ful or coriander,garlic pods and few more chillies
  23. Adjust the salt
  24. Serve hot with onions and fresh mint leaves

My Tip:

Use red masoor dal.Prefer boneless mutton.you can use green tomatoes for more sour chutney.
