Lauki Kofte

Ingredients to make Lauki Kofte

  • For kofte 250 gm bottle gourd, grated
  • 2 tablespoon corn flour
  • 2 tablespoon gram flour /Besan
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1/4 cup coriander, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilly powder
  • For Paste: 2 onions , roughly sliced 5-6 garlic cloves 1/2; ginger , roughly sliced 4 green chillies
  • 2 cup tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves/ kasuri methi
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon red chilly powder
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil , for frying
  • 1/2 cup coriander leaves ,chopped
  • 5 cups water or as required

How to make Lauki Kofte

  1. Mix all the ingredients for Koftas in a bowl . Make small round balls of equal size. Heat oil in a wok, fry the Koftas from both sides.
  2. Drain on paper towel and set aside. Make a paste with onions, garlic and green chilli with the help of some water in food processor.
  3. Remove excess oil from the wok and you should be left with around 2 tablespoon oil in it. Add dried fenugreek leaves and cumin seeds. Saute for 1 minute.
  4. Add the paste to this, and add spices and salt. Mix well.
  5. Now add tomato puree and saute till the oil leaves the sides. Add water and let it boil for few minutes. Now add the koftas made earlier in the curry . Cook for few minutes.
  6. Serve and enjoy.
  7. Add the paste made above and saute; for 10-15 minutes on low heat till golden brown in color.
