Ingredients to make Pumpkin Halwa

  • 500 gms pumpkin
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • Khoa and dry fruits for garnishing

How to make Pumpkin Halwa

  1. Peel and chop pumpkin into 1 inch pieces. Pressure cook with a little water until tender. Once the pumpkin is tender, mash it using a potato masher.
  2. In a heavy bottom pan heat the ghee, add crushed cardamom and the mashed pumpkin. Stir constantly till the mix begins to dry up.
  3. Add sugar and keep stirring. The sugar will melt and leave the water.
  4. It is important to stir constantly as the sugar will begin caramalizing.
  5. The dessert is done once the mix leaves the sides of the pan and the ghee is released.
  6. Garnish with grated khoa and chopped dry fruits of your choice.
