Sprouted Moong Usal

Ingredients to make Sprouted Moong Usal

  • Green moong 1 cup
  • onion chopped 1 cup
  • green chillies chopped 2
  • ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • coriander chopped 1/2 cup
  • Dhana jira powder 1.5 tsp
  • Haladi 1/2 tsp
  • lal mirch powder 1tsp
  • oil 1.5 tb sp
  • water 4 cups
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • Kokam 4 pcs
  • jaggery 1 tsp
  • salt 1 tsp
  • Rai n jira 1/2 tsp each

How to make Sprouted Moong Usal

  1. Soak the Moong for at least 7 hours.
  2. Keep it for sprouting over night.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan...add rai n jira.
  4. When it splutters add haladi powder chopped green chillies.
  5. Add chopped onions.
  6. Saute for 2 minutes.
  7. Add lal mirch powder n coriander.
  8. Add Ginger Garlic paste.
  9. Saute on low flame till oil leaves the sides of the pan.
  10. Add sprouted moong n saute for 7..8 mts stirring occasionally.
  11. Add hot water 4 cups and dhana jira powder.
  12. Cover half n cook till moong are tender but nit mushy.
  13. When soft add coconut. .kokam. .jaggery n salt.
  14. Mix n cook for 2..3 mts.
  15. Done.
  16. Serve with hot Rice n Green salad.

My Tip:

Garnish it with coriander n chopped tomatoes if you like.
