Ingredients to make Broken wheat upma

  • Broken wheat 1/2 cup
  • ghee 2 tbsp
  • salt 3/4 tesp
  • Whole red chilli 2
  • cumin seeds 1/2 tesp
  • mustard seeds 1/4 tesp
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tesp
  • Chopped carrots 2 tbsp
  • Green peas 2 tbsp
  • Boiled potato 1
  • tomato 1
  • Green coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  • lemon juice

How to make Broken wheat upma

  1. ROAST 1/2 CUP BROKEN WHEAT IN 1 TBSP GHEE.
  2. ADD 1 CUP OF WATER.
  3. ADD 1/2 TESP SALT AND PRESSURE COOK.
  4. GIVE A WHISTLE AND THEN SIMMER FOR 5 MINUTES.
  5. IN A PAN HEAT 1 TBSP GHEE. ADD 2 WHOLE RED CHILLIES, 1/2 TESP CUMIN SEEDS.
  6. ADD 1/4 TESP MUSTARD SEED, A PINCH OF ASAFOETIDA.
  7. ADD 2 TBSP EACH OF GREEN PEAS AND FINELY CHOPPED CARROTS.
  8. SEASON WITH 1/4 TESP SALT AND 1/4 TESP TURMERIC POWDER. ADD 1 TBSP WATER.
  9. COOK COVERED ON SIM TILL VEGGIES GET TENDER.
  10. ADD 1 PUREED TOMATO.
  11. ADD 1 BOILED POTATO CHOPPED.
  12. WHEN TOMATOES ARE WELL COOKED ADD 2 TBSP WATER AND COOKED BROKEN WHEAT.
  13. COVER AND COOK ON LOW FOR 3-4 MINUTES.
  14. ADD 1 TBSP CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES AND A DASH OF LEMON JUICE.
  15. SERVE HOT.
