About Dhuska Recipe

Dhuska is a festive delicacy from states of Bihar and Jharkhand. Rice and lentil's deep fried cakes served with spicy chickpea curry and tomato chutney. This breakfast recipe is now getting popular for a change from world famous north Indian and south Indian food.

Ingredients to make Dhuska

  • rice 1 cup
  • chana dal 1/2 cup
  • ginger 1 tbsp
  • Green chilies 2
  • salt 1 tesp
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • Green coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  • Chopped carrots 2 tbsp
  • Green peas 2 tbsp
  • oil for deep frying

How to make Dhuska

  1. SOAK 1 CUP RICE AND 1/2 CUP BENGAL GRAM/ CHANA DAL OVERNIGHT.
  2. WASH AND STRAIN.
  3. GRIND SOAKED RICE, DAL, 2 GREEN CHILIES, 1 TBSP GINGER WITH 1+1/4 CUP OF WATER TO A SMOOTH BATTER.
  4. ADD 1 TESP SALT, PINCH OF ASAFOETIDA AND 1 TBSP CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES.
  5. ADD 2 TBSP EACH OF FINELY CHOPPED CARROTS AND GREEN PEAS.
  6. POUR A LADLE FULL OF BATTER IN HOT OIL AND DEEP FRY.
  7. FRY ON BOTH SIDES GOLDEN BROWN.
  8. REMOVE ONTO A ABSORBENT PAPER.
  9. SERVE WITH SPICY CHICKPEA CURRY AND TOMATO CHUTNEY.
