Punjabi chole

Ingredients to make Punjabi chole

  • White chole 1 cup
  • onion 4
  • tomato 5
  • 1 spoon namak or as per taste
  • 2-3 M.D.H chole masala
  • 1/4 spoon lal mirch
  • 1/2 tea spoon garam masala
  • 1/2spoon dania powder
  • 1-2 green chillies
  • 1-2 tej patta
  • 1/4 spoon jeera buna aur pisa hua
  • 1/4 spoon jeera
  • Chopped dania leaves and onion slices for garnishing

How to make Punjabi chole

  1. First soak the chole in the bowl overnight or in a luke warm water for 4-5 hours.
  2. Then take a cooker and boil the chole in it.
  3. Cook on high flame for 4-5 whistles then lower down the flame and then switch off the gas.
  4. Now take onions and peel them and grind them in the grinder to a fine paste.
  5. Take tomatoes and make a puree by grinding them in the grinder with green chillies.
  6. Now take tawa and heat dania powder till brown and also jeera till dark brown.
  7. Make powder of bhuna jeera with a belan on chakla.
  8. Now take a kadai and add some oil and then add jeera.Cook for 1min . and add grinded onion and cook till golden brown.
  9. Now add ginger garkic paste to kadai and tej pata and stir for 1min.
  10. Now add tomato puree and stir till dark red.
  11. Now add lal m.d.h chana masala .lal mirch powder,dania powder,namak,buna aur pisa jeera and stir for a minute.
  12. Now take cooker and add chole and masala made in kadai.
  13. Make one whistle in cooker and take out in the serving bowl.Your chole are ready to serve.Garnish with onion slies and chopped dania.Happy cooking!!!

My Tip:

Soak chole for 5-6 hours or overnight.
