ABOUT Gondhoraj Chitol Paturi RECIPE

This is a very simple but delicious dish. The use of Gondhoraj lemon enhance the taste of the dish. It can also be made by using hilsa fish.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 3 piece Chitol fish
  2. Gondhoraj lemon zest 1 tbsp
  3. Gondhoraj lemon juice 1 tsp
  4. Black Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  5. White mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  6. Green chillies 4-6 slitted
  7. Poppy seeds 2 tsp
  8. 4 Cashews
  9. Some coconut pieces
  10. Kashmiri red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  11. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  12. Salt 1 tsp.
  13. Mustard Oil 3 tsp
  14. 6 piece Gondhoraj lemon leaves
  15. 6 piece square banana leaves
  16. Cotton thread

Instructions

  1. Wash and pat dry the fish pieces. Rub lemon juice and lemon zest on fish and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. In a blender blend together black and white mustard seeds, coconut, poppy seeds, green chillies and cashews to a smooth paste.
  3. In a bowl take the above paste and dip the fish pieces into it.
  4. Now heat each banana leaf directly on the fire for 4-5 sec. It gives softness to the leaves.
  5. Place a gondhoraj lemon leaf at the center of a banana leaf.
  6. Now put a piece of fish on it. Place one slitted green chilli on top of it and add 1 tsp of mustard oil in it.
  7. Now cover the fish with another lemon leaf.
  8. Fold the leaf from each side, make it a square parcel and tie with thread.
  9. Now grease a non-stick pan with 1 tbsp oil and place paturi's on it.
  10. Cover the pan with air tight lid and cook on medium flame for 10 minutes each sides.
  11. Now serve these tasty paturi's with rice.
