Punjabi Rajmah

Ingredients to make Punjabi Rajmah

  • Rajmah / kidney beans 150g
  • butter to garnish 1tbsp
  • mustard oil 1tbsp
  • Desi ghee 3tbsp
  • Garam masala 1tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric 1/4tsf
  • Black pepper 1/4tsf
  • cumin powder 1tsf
  • coriander powder 4tsf
  • Green coriander leaves
  • bay leaf 1
  • green chillies 2-3
  • ginger 1inch stick
  • garlic 1 small bulb
  • tomatoes 150g
  • onions 150g

How to make Punjabi Rajmah

  1. Seep Rajmah in water for 4-6hours
  2. Pressure cook Rajmah for 2-3whistles
  3. Cut and chop onions finely
  4. Make a paste of tomatoes, ginger, chillies, garlic etc in mixie
  5. Heat ghee in kadhai. Add bay leaf.
  6. Add chopped onions. Fry till golden brown.
  7. Add tomatoe puree to this.
  8. When golden brown, add all masalas/powders.
  9. Fry. Add to the pressure cooked Rajmah.
  10. Pressure cook it for 1 more whistle.
  11. When cool, add garam masala.
  12. Garnish with butter and coriander leaves and serve hot in bowl.
