About Malwani Fish Curry Recipe

Malwani cuisine is very popular in parts of coastal Maharashtra and in Goa. To make this gravy two types of coconut is used one in the form of coconut paste and in the form of coconut milk.

Malwani Fish Curry

Ingredients to make Malwani Fish Curry

  • 1/2 kg Surmai Fish
  • 1coconut small
  • 6-7 byadgi red chilli( dry)
  • 5-6 Guntur chillies( dry)
  • 1tablespoon coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1teaspoon cummin seeds
  • 1onion
  • 2-3 table spoon kokum juice
  • 2table spoon oil
  • 1inch ginger
  • 7-8 cloves of garlic

How to make Malwani Fish Curry

  1. Wash fish and apply salt and turmeric powder, keep aside
  2. Grate coconut
  3. In a pan heat little oil add onion, fry till pink in colour
  4. Add both the red chillies and fry
  5. Add cummin and grated coconut
  6. Take a mixie jar add coconut mixture, ginger garlic and turmeric powder.
  7. Make a fine paste.
  8. 1/2 coconut just make a fine paste with hot water, remove milk and again one more time grind and remove milk.
  9. In a Vessel heat oil add grinded masala let it cook, till oil seprates
  10. Add water
  11. Now add coconut milk and cook for 1-2 minutes
  12. Finally add fish check seasoning
  13. Cook for 1-2 minutes
  14. Your malwani fish curry is ready to serve with steam rice.

My Tip:

If you dont have kokum use tamrind juice
