Instant Low fat Beetroot halwa

Ingredients to make Instant Low fat Beetroot halwa

  • Medium sized Beetroot grated 3
  • Pitted dates 12 to 15 finely chopped
  • ghee 2 tablespoons
  • corn starch 1/4 cup
  • water 1.1/4 cup
  • chopped nuts for garnishing
  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

How to make Instant Low fat Beetroot halwa

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons ghee in a sauce pan .
  2. Add 3 medium sized Beetroot grated . Sauté till raw smell leaves .
  3. Once the Beetroot starts releasing aroma , add 1.1/4 cup water .
  4. Cover the pan . Cook for 5 minutes .
  5. The Beetroot is cooked and the water is reduced .
  6. Now add 1/4 cup corn starch . 2 tablespoons corn flour dissolved in 1/4 cup water . Stir quickly .
  7. The Beetroot mixture turns glossy . Add pitted finely chopped dates 12 to 15 .
  8. Add 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder . Cover the pan. Cook for 3 minutes . Keep stirring in between.
  9. 1 no sticky mass is the perfect consistency . Garnish with nuts . Serve warm .

My Tip:

Don’t overcook Beetroot . Don’t skip the sautéing step .
