ABOUT Gajar Halwa in Microwave RECIPE

Gajar Halwa or Gajar Ka halwa is a traditional sweet Dish made out of Grated Carrots.The Gajar Halwa recipe given below is the microwave version and gives the same taste of traditional way of preparing it. And I have added only milk as I was running out of khoya.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Ghajar (Indian Variety) or Normal Carrots : 5-6
  2. Sugar – 7-8 tsp. or ¾ Cup
  3. Milk- 2 Cups
  4. Broken Cashews – Few
  5. Resins- Few
  6. Ghee – 5-6 tbsp.

Instructions

  1. Wash the Carrots and dry them out
  2. Peel the skin of the carrots and grate them
  3. Transfer the grated carrots in a Microwave safe bowl and cook it the oven for around 10-12 minutes, stirring in between for every 4 minutes
  4. Add in 2 teaspoons of ghee, mix well and again cook in oven for another 5-6 minutes stirring in between
  5. Take out the bowl, add in sugar, milk and another 2 teaspoons of ghee, mix well and cook again until the milk is completely absorbed
  6. In a small skillet heat in the remaining 2 teaspoons of ghee and add in broken cashews and Raisins and fry for a minute or two
  7. Transfer them into the bowl of halwa mixture and mix well
  8. Serve the Gajar Halwa hot or cold.

I had tried the halwa with milk but my carrots got burnt. I stopped making this halwa in microwave.but I will definitely try it again. Also I would like to know is when we cook the ingredients...should the bowl be covered or uncovered?
