ABOUT Kasrod (Fiddlehead Fern) Pickle - A Jammu delicacy RECIPE

Kasrod pickle is another very famous Jammu delicacy which is usually made in dogri homes. It can be eaten with chapatti or paratha or bread.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Kasrod – 250 gms
  2. mustard oil – 2 tbsp
  3. salt – 1.5 tsp
  4. turmeric powder ½ tsp (As per taste)
  5. Red Chilli powder ½ tsp (As per taste)
  6. mustard seeds powder – 1 1/2 tsp


  1. Pre –preparation of Kasrod – Shave off the skin of the kasrod with light hands. Cut into small pieces and then blanch them in boiling water with a little turmeric powder. Once blanched wash the pieces at least 3-4 times to remove the dirt.
  2. Then spread the kasrod pieces to dry off. Once dried, add all the spices and mustard oil. Mix well and transfer the pickle in a glass jar. Keep it in sunlight till the mustard seeds powder gets fermented.
  3. Once the required sourness is achieved, serve with chapatti or bread.
