Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 250gms Maida
  2. 113gms Butter, cold and cubed
  3. 2tbsp Sugar
  4. 1/4th cup Milk
  5. Brown sugar to sprinkle
  6. 120gms Strawberries, cut into pieces
  7. 2tsp Sugar
  8. 1tsp Cornflour
  9. 50gms Cream cheese
  10. 2tsp Sugar
  11. 2 drops of vanilla extract
  12. 1tbsp Pistachio slices

Instructions

  1. The dough for the galette is handled just like a tart dough. Not to be overmixed or overworked.
  2. Mix in the flour, butter, sugar and lastly milk.
  3. The ingredients are mixed with a light hand and the dough is wrapped in a cling wrap and refrigerated for an hour or so.
  4. For the filling , mix the cream cheese with the sugar and the vanilla and mix until smooth. Now toss in the sugar and cornflour with the strawberries. Again if you are using eggs , you can use one egg yolk with the cream cheese and vanilla.
  5. Roll out the dough into a circle. keep the strawberries in the center . Put spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries.
  6. Now the edges of the circled dough were kept free of the filling. Start turning the edges over the filling, just so the base doesn’t bend . we are not making a potli , so the center remains exposed.
  7. Brush a little milk on the galette just before baking . Sprinkle some brown sugar and the sliced Pistachio.
  8. Put it into a preheated over at 200 degree celsius for about 45 minutes or until done
  9. Cut into slices and serve hot. You can put a dollop of crème friache on the top.
