ABOUT Tawa Fry and Oven Baked Amritsari Fish Fry RECIPE

Amritsari Fish is a popular street food prepared with a lot of spices and a restaurant style starter fried fish. Here's my take on this traditional dish, I have made it a very healthy, low fat ,delicious and savoury dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste (4 garlic cloves and 1 inch ginger)
  2. 1 tsp kasmiri mirch powder
  3. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (or paprika, you can reduce it to 1/4 tsp if you like it less spicy)
  5. 1/2 tsp white pepper powder
  6. 1 tsp lemon juice
  7. 3 tsp mustard oil (kachchi ghani)
  8. 3 tsp besan (gram flour)
  9. 1 tsp salt (or adjust as per your taste)
  10. Rosemary leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the besan till its light brown.
  2. Mix the ginger-garlic paste, salt, roasted besan, turmeric, degi mirch, cayenne or paprika, white pepper, lemon juice and mustard oil. Apply this to the salmon.
  3. Chop some rosemary leaves and sprinkle it on the salmon pieces. (I usually allow salmon to rest for 20 minutes after marinading it.)
  4. Then bake the fish in the oven which is preheated at 218 degrees celsius for 18 mins and then let it rest for 10 minutes before serving it.
  5. You can also bake the fish in a pan. Heat a pan and add 4 tbsp refined oil. Sear the fish on a high flame and then on a low heat , gently cook the fish till it is done . Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve the Amritsari fish fry hot .
