ABOUT Punjabi dum aloo RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 10 -15 small sized boiled potatoes
  2. 1 medium sized chopped onion
  3. 1 cup tomato puree
  4. 1 cup whisked yogurt
  5. 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  6. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  7. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  8. 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  9. 4 cloves of black pepper
  10. 2 cardamoms
  11. 2 cinnamons
  12. 3 teaspoon Oil
  13. 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  14. 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
  15. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  16. 8 cashew nuts
  17. 1 bay leaf
  18. Salt to taste
  19. Chopped coriander leaves
  20. 1 teaspoon cream

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes and peel it.
  2. Take the cashew, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, cloves, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and grind it to make a paste. Keep it aside.
  3. Take a pan on medium heat, add oil to shallow fry the potatoes. Keep it aside.
  4. Now bring the oil at a low temperature. Add the bay leaf, then add the ginger-garlic paste in it, add the chopped onion and saute it.
  5. Add the tomato puree in it and cook it for while. Add the whisked yogurt and the prepared paste (masala mixture) in it.
  6. Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt and mix well. Add the cream, then add sugar and mix it.
  7. Now add the shallow fried potatoes and cook for while.
  8. Add the coriander leaves to garnish and serve.
