ABOUT Savoury Potato Bites RECIPE

These bites can be served with tea. These are crispy from outside.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Filling:
  2. Medium boiled potatoes 4
  3. Sugar 1 tsp
  4. Red chili powder 3 tsp
  5. Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  6. Amchur powder 1 tsp
  7. Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  8. Desiccated coconut 3 tbsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. For Chutney:
  11. Tamarind pulp 4 tsp
  12. Sugar 1 tsp
  13. Red chili powder 1 tsp
  14. Salt to taste
  15. For coating:
  16. Gram flour (Besan) 1/2 cup
  17. All purpose flour(Maida) 1/2 cup
  18. Oil 1 tbsp
  19. Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  20. Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
  21. Asafoetida (Hing) 1 pinch
  22. Salt to taste
  23. Oil to deep fry

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients of coating together. Rub it with palm and mix properly.
  2. Now add water to it and knead the dough. It should be like puri dough. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into four equal portions. Roll each portion with rolling pin. These chapatis should be a little bit thick.
  4. Mix all the ingredients of filling together except potatoes to make dry filling.
  5. Mash the boiled potatoes properly so that there should not be any lumps.
  6. In a non-stick pan heat 1 tbsp of oil, add dry filling. Cook for a minute, add mashed potatoes and mix properly. Cook it for few minutes and remove from the stove.
  7. Mix all the ingredients of chutney together. Stir it till the sugar dissolves.
  8. Now take a chapati, spread 1 tsp of chutney on it. Now spread potato filling on it.
  9. Now keep another chapati on it. Again spread 1 tsp of chutney on it. Now spread potato filling on it.
  10. Roll it tightly in a cylindrical shape. When you come to the end apply little water to seal it.
  11. Similarly make another roll.
  12. Now cut both the rolls into 1 inch pieces.
  13. Heat oil in a pan to fry. It should not be very hot. Deep fry all the bites at a medium or low flame, so that it should be cooked properly from inside. Fry till golden brown and crispy.
  14. Serve hot.
