Mangoes are found abundantly in summer, and this is using raw mangoes in a delicious way. A dal made with raw mangoes to be served with some steamed rice on the side.

Ingredients to make Sour flavour mango dal

  • 1 cup tuvar dal
  • 1 cup raw mango pieces
  • salt
  • green chillies - 2
  • asafoetida - 1/4 th tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chillies - 2
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Crushed garlic cloves - 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves [chopped], handful
  • curry leaves - 10
  • Refined oil/ghee

How to make Sour flavour mango dal

  1. BOIL TOOR DAL, MANGO PIECES, CHILLIES WITH REQUIRED AMOUNT OF WATER IN A PRESSURE COOKER.
  2. SMASH IT . ADD SALT AND LET THIS BOIL ON A LOW FLAME.
  3. FOR TADAKA,HEAT OIL IN A KADAI, ADD MUSTARD SEEDS AND CUMIN SEEDS.
  4. ADD CRUSHED GARLIC,RED CHILI, ASAFOETIDA & TURMERIC POWDER.
  5. ONCE FRIED ,ADD CURRY LEAVES, CORIANDER
  6. ADD THIS TADAKA TO THE COOKED DAL, IN A BOWL. MIX WELL AND SERVE.
