About Kadapa Recipe

It is flavourful gravy famous in kumbakonam and tanjore. It tastes best with idly, dosa, poori and roti.

Ingredients to make Kadapa

  • oil
  • bay leaf
  • cinnamon sticks
  • 3 green chillies
  • onion sliced 2
  • garlic 6 cloves
  • moong dal 1/2 cup
  • potatoes 4
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt
  • coriander leaves
  • To Grind
  • coconut 1/4 cup
  • poppy seeds 1 tsp
  • fennel seeds 1 tsp
  • 8-10 cashews

How to make Kadapa

  1. ADD 2 TBSP OIL IN KADAI. ADD BAY LEAF AND CINNAMON STICKS
  2. ADD 3 SLIT GREEN CHILLIES AND 2 SLICED ONION
  3. ADD 6 GARLIC CLOVES AND CURRY LEAVES
  4. ADD 1/2 CUP RINSED MOONG DAL
  5. ADD REQUIRED WATER AND 4 CHOPPED POTATOES
  6. ADD 1/2 TSP TURMERIC POWDER AND REQUIRED SALT
  7. COOK FOR 10-15 MINUTES TO COOK DAL AND POTATOES
  8. STIR OCCASIONALLY
  9. GRIND 1/2 CUP COCONUT, 8-10 CASHEWS, 1 TSP POPPY AND FENNEL SEEDS TO FINE PASTE
  10. ADD GROUND PASTE TO COOKED DAL
  11. TURN OFF FLAME AT THIS STAGE AND GARNISH WITH CORIANDER LEAVES
