ABOUT Cranberries Raisin chutney RECIPE

I love making such yummy sweet tangy spicy chutney to go with parathas , bread or even rotis.I use raisins with cranberries, or dates or al of them and every time they turn out delicious and finger licking good. This chutney is a combination of cranberries and raisins.

Ingredients Serving: 15

  1. 1 cup raisins ( or a mix of finely chopped pitted dates and raisins )
  2. 1 cup cranberries
  3. 1-2 tbsp tamrind paste or pulp
  4. 1/2 inch ginger or grated ginger
  5. pinch of salt
  6. Pinch of black pepper.
  7. 1/4 cup brown sugar or plain sugar
  8. 1 tsp roasted powdered cumin seeds
  9. 1/2 tsp chili powder
  10. 1 small cardamom powdered ( optional)
  11. 3/4 cup water.

Instructions

  1. Soak raisins and cranberries in warm water for an hour . You can then puree the raisins coarsely .or mash with ladle while cooking too.
  2. In a pan add the water , all the spices and let boil on low flame, add the grated ginger , mashed raisins, cranberries and let cook together .
  3. when slightly thickened , remove and let cool , store in a clean dry bottle
  4. recipe almost the same for any combination either with raisins alone, or with pitted chopped dates and raisins, or cranberries and raisins. I f using dates, you can reduce quantity of brown sugar
