About Banana toffee Recipe

Toffee banana is a classic Chinese dessert. Slices of banana are battered and deep-fried, then coated in toffee and sesame seeds making them deliciously crisp.

Banana toffee

Ingredients to make Banana toffee

  • 100 gram maida
  • 50 gram cornflour
  • 3 bananas, thickly sliced diagonally 
  • 200 gram sugar 
  • Refined oil, for deep-frying 
  • black and white sesame seeds, for sprinkling 
  • 1 bowl ice cold water

How to make Banana toffee

  1. Mix together maida and cornflour
  2. add water and mix until smooth.
  3. Mix 1 spoon refined oil
  4. Heat refined oil in a wok
  5. Dip each banana slice in the batter
  6. Fry until golden and crispy
  7. Take out on paper towel.
  8. Heat sugar in a pan
  9. When sugar is caramalized remove from heat
  10. then working quickly and one at a time, add the fried banana to the caramel and turn to coat.
  11. Drop into a large bowl of iced water to set the caramel. 
  12. Drain immediately, then sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds.

My Tip:

Work quickly with caramalized sugar otherwise it will turn hard
