Ingredients to make Kadalacurry

  • To Pressure cook
  • Black Channa soaked overnight 1 cup
  • shallots 4-8
  • garlic 2 cloves
  • ginger
  • Pinch of turmeric powder
  • salt
  • For Kadalacurry
  • coconut oil 2 tbsp
  • mustard
  • onion sliced 2
  • Ginger garlic paste
  • curry leaves
  • tomato Big 1
  • tamarind extract optional
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • salt
  • coconut pieces

How to make Kadalacurry

  1. SOAK 1/4 CUP BLACK CHANNA OVERNIGHT
  2. IN A PRESSURE COOKER ADD BLACK CHANNA, 4 SHALLOTS, 2 GARLIC
  3. ADD GINGER AND TURMERIC POWDER
  4. ADD PINCH OF SALT AND WATER
  5. PRESSURE COOK FOR 7-8 WHISTLES
  6. SMASH SOME CHANNA AND KEEP ASIDE
  7. IN A KADAI, ADD 2 TBSP COCONUT OIL. ADD MUSTARD. ALLOW TO SPLUTTER.
  8. ADD 2 SLICED ONION. SAUTE
  9. ADD FINELY CHOPPED GINGER GARLIC AND CURRY LEAVES
  10. WHEN ONION TURNS LITE BROWN, ADD 1 CHOPPED TOMATO
  11. ADD SMALL QUANTITY OF TAMARIND JUICE. ADD 1/2 TSP TURMERIC, 1 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER, REQUIRED SALT
  12. ADD 1 TSP CORIANDER POWDER AND GARAM MASALA
  13. ALLOW TOMATOES TO COOK AND MASH
  14. ADD 1 SLIT GREEN CHILLI AND COOKED CHANNA
  15. ADD COCONUT PIECES
  16. MIX
  17. CLOSE WITH A LID AND COOK FOR 5-10 MINUTES
  18. KADALACURRY READY
