Traditional Bengali recipe, a delicious curry made with dal and fish head.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Rohu fish head 1 cut into 2haves
  2. Yellow lentil(moong dal) 150 gram
  3. Mustard oil 4 tablespoon
  4. Ginger paste 1 tablespoon
  5. Garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  6. Dry red chillies 4
  7. Onion chopped 1 large
  8. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Cumin powder 1½ teaspoon
  10. Coriander powder 1½ teaspoon
  11. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  12. Garam masala powder ½ teaspoon
  13. Panchphorun 1½ teaspoon
  14. Bay leaf 2
  15. Coriander chopped 3 tablespoon
  16. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate fish head with turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Fry the fish head on medium flame from both sides for 4-5 minutes, crush the fish head and fry for another 3 minutes.
  3. Dry roast the lentil for 4-5 minutes in pressure cooker.
  4. Add 1½cup of water, salt, turmeric into the cooker and mix it well.
  5. Close the lid and cook the lentil for 1 whistle in high flame.
  6. Heat oil add panchphorun, bay leaf, red chilli fry for few seconds
  7. Add onion saute for 2-3 minutes
  8. Add ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder saute for 2-3 minutes
  9. Add crushed fish head fry for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Add boiled lentil into the pan add little bit of water let it come to boil.
  11. Add garam masala, chopped coriander leaves boil for 2-3 minutes.
