About Steamed Chocolate Cake Recipe

Previously the cakes made were mostly steamed. This chocolate cake recipe is about 20years old but I bet this can beat the taste of most of the cake available in the market today

Steamed Chocolate Cake

Ingredients to make Steamed Chocolate Cake

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

How to make Steamed Chocolate Cake

  1. Mix together sugar, eggs, oil and vanilla essence. Mix well till well combined.
  2. Sieve all purpose flour and cocoa powder in another bowl. Add baking powder and mix.
  3. Combine both the mixture well.
  4. Grease a 6" mould with butter or oil. Pour the batter in it and tap till its bubble free. Cover the mould with foil.
  5. In a pan, place a food stand. Place the mould on it. Now add water till the half mould level.
  6. Close the pan and let it steam for 45 -50 mins In a low-medium flame.
  7. Check with a knife or a toothpick. It's done it it comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the heat and let the cake cool.
  9. Optionally dust with icing sugar.

My Tip:

You may even bake the cake @180 for 25-30 mins.
