Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Gobindo Bhog Rice (If available or any other rice will do)- 1 handful, soaked in water for 40 minutes
  2. Nolen gur or date palm jaggery- 1 cup
  3. Full fat milk - 1 litre
  4. 1 tsp milk powder
  5. 1/2 cup Cream
  6. 2 green cardamom pods
  7. 1 bay leaf
  8. Handful of raisins and cashews, soaked and chopped

Instructions

  1. Take a big saucepan, add the milk and put it on medium heat. Add the crushed cardamoms and bayleaf.
  2. When the milk starts boiling, stir constantly to prevent it from burning. Now add the milk powder and stir again.
  3. Once the milk is reduced to half, add the rice after straining the water from the soaked rice.
  4. Meanwhile mix a little jaggery with 1 tbsp of the cooked milk and check if the milk does not curdle, this means that the jaggery is good. Add the rest of the jaggery, cashews and raisins to the sauce pan.
  5. Incase the jaggery is not good, add sugar or condensed milk. Stir continuously, once the rice is cooked take it off the heat and let it cool down.
  6. Enjoy!
