About Bread Kaja/Fried Sweetened Bread Slices Recipe

Quite a known Hyderabadi Sweet dish with bread slices and simple sugar syrup. This is quite different from ShahiTukda.

Bread Kaja/Fried Sweetened Bread Slices

Ingredients to make Bread Kaja/Fried Sweetened Bread Slices

  • 6-7 Bread slices
  • 1/2cup sugar
  • 1/4tsp cardamom powder
  • oil for frying
  • Chopped nuts

How to make Bread Kaja/Fried Sweetened Bread Slices

  1. Remove the brown edges of the bread and slice as two pieces.
  2. Deep fry the sliced bread pieces one by one until the bread slices turns golden brown.
  3. Remove the bread and drain the excess of oil with a paper towel.
  4. Meanwhile make a one string consistency sugar syrup with sugar and enough water.
  5. Add the crushed cardamoms to the sugar syrup and keep aside.
  6. Drop the fried bread slices to the sugar syrup.
  7. Remove the soaked bread slices and sprinkle the chopped nuts on the top. Enjoy immediately.
