About Dahi Lau (Dahi wale rasile lauki/Bottle gourd in yoghurt gravy) Recipe

It's a very easy, healthy and delicious recipe. Boiled bottle gourd dipped in curd and then tempered. Its a no onion, garlic recipe.

Dahi Lau (Dahi wale rasile lauki/Bottle gourd in yoghurt gravy)

Ingredients to make Dahi Lau (Dahi wale rasile lauki/Bottle gourd in yoghurt gravy)

  • bottle gourd 2cup
  • curd 1cup
  • Crushed ginger 1tbsp
  • Roasted Cumin-dry red chilli powder 1tsp
  • salt to taste
  • For tempering-
  • mustard Oil 1tsp
  • cumin-mustard seeds 1tsp
  • curry leaves few
  • Slited green chilli 2
  • Dry red chilli 1
  • black gram 1/2tsp
  • Assfoetida (hing) a pinch

How to make Dahi Lau (Dahi wale rasile lauki/Bottle gourd in yoghurt gravy)

  1. Peel, wash and cut the bottle gourd in small pieces.
  2. Boil with salt and little water.
  3. Let it cool.
  4. Whisk fresh curd.
  5. Add crushed ginger, salt and mix.
  6. Add the boiled and cooled bottle gourd and mix well.
  7. Heat oil in a tadka pan and add all the tempering ingredients and cool a bit.
  8. Then add this to the curd mixture.
  9. Mix everything.
  10. Finally sprinkle roasted cumin-dry red chilli powder and serve.

My Tip:

Don't overcook the bottle gourd while boiling.
