About Achari chicken Recipe

Chicken in pickle masala. A tangy twist gives flavour to this dish

Achari chicken

Ingredients to make Achari chicken

  • 500 gm chicken
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1.5 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp panch phoran
  • 2 tbsp achar masala (of any pickle)
  • salt to taste
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 2 slit green chillies
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

How to make Achari chicken

  1. Marinate the chicken with buttermilk and turmeric for an hour or overnight
  2. In a pan heat oil.. add panch phoron and saute onion till golden. Now add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes off.
  3. Add the tomatoes.and chillies. Add red chilli powder. And little turmeric powder. Cook till soft
  4. Now add chicken. Reserve the marinate. Fry the chicken well. Now add achar masala. Mix and coat the chicken well.
  5. Add the marinate and keep cooking. Till the marinate starts thickening. Add salt. Give a mix .
  6. Cover and cook for 25 min on medium flame.
  7. Open the lid. Check the chicken if done. Add kasuri methi. Cook for 2 more min
  8. Garnish with chopped green chillies
  9. Serve
