About Poha Recipe

This typical Indian delicious breakfast always reminds me about the flavours of simplicity of Indian breakfast. My all time favourite poha, made with with flattened rice. **Country : United kingdom


Ingredients to make Poha

  • Flattened rice - 1/2 cup
  • onion (chopped) - 1
  • ginger (chopped) - 1 tsp
  • ground nuts - 2 tbsp
  • green chillies (chopped) - 1 tsp
  • mustard leaves - 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Refined oil
  • coriander leaves (handful)
  • salt
  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp

How to make Poha

  1. Soak the thick flattened rice in water for 5 minutes till they fluff up and drain them. Keep aside.
  2. Heat a kadhai with little oil. Fry the fround nuts and keep then aside. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves followed but chopped green chillies and ginger.
  3. Now add the chopped onion and saute until transparent.
  4. Add turmeric powder, salt and mix well. Then add lemon juice, salt and sugar.
  5. Mix well and then add the fried ground nuts and the soaked & drained flattened rice.
  6. Mix well and cook for few minutes. Sprinkle coriander leaves, mix well and serve hot.
