you heard It anywhere about turkeyberry/sundakkai vada ???,,,,has been many years since I made this as the boys are not so enthusiastic about eating Sundaikkai/turkeyberry. So it's very healthy n tasty too,,, so must try n give ur kids,,,

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Sundakkai / Turkey Berry – 1/2 cup
  2. Channa Dal – 1 cup
  3. Sambar Onions / Shallots – 1/2 cup.
  4. Green Chillies – 2
  5. Garlic, crushed – 6
  6. Dry Whole red chillies – 2
  7. Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
  8. Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
  9. Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup
  10. Salt – To taste
  11. Oil – For deep frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the channa dal for 1 hour. Drain the water. Keep 3 tbsp aside and grind the rest in a mixie to a coarse paste without adding water
  2. Grind the sundakkai/turkeyberry to a coarse paste and add it the channa dal paste. Again grind together fennel seeds, green chillies, dry chilllies together in the same mixie without adding water and add it to the dal and sundaikkai/turkeyberry paste. Mix well.
  3. To this paste add the kept aside soaked channa dal, finely chopped sambar onion, crushed garlic, chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves and salt and mix well. Make small balls the size of lemons and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a kadai. Slightly flatten the balls between your palms and slip them one by one into the hot oil When cooked drain on an absorbent paper.
  5. Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
