It's an everyday dish in which palak or spinach is cooked with daal to give you a moderate but very nice taste. Along with the good taste, one gets alot of protein and iron as well.

Ingredients Serving: 3
1/2 cup urad daal
1- 1 and 1/2 cup palak or spinach
salt to taste
1 inch ginger
2 green chillies
3 cups water
For tempering:
3 tsp oil or desi ghee
1/2 onion sliced
1 tsp cumin seeds
A pinch of hing or asafoetida
Instructions
Soak the daal in water for about 20 mins. Wash and chop the palak or spinach and keep aside.
In a pressure cooker, add daal, chopped palak, salt, ginger, green chillies and water.
Cook till 4-5 whistles blow or till the daal becomes tender.
For tempering:
Heat oil in a pan. Add sliced onions,when the onions are golden in colour, add the cumin seeds and heeng.
Pour this tempering over the daal and enjoy your healthy meal with chapati or rice.
