It is a very popular Bengali cuisine.It is cooked just like a non-veg gravy & generally serve with rice or any Indian bread.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Pointed gourd...300gm
  2. Ginger paste...1tspn
  3. Garlic clove...4
  4. Onion paste...2tspn
  5. Curd...2tspn
  6. Cashew nuts...5 to 7
  7. Green chilli...2
  8. Sugar...1/2tspn
  9. Cumin seeds...1tspn
  10. Cumin powder...1tspn
  11. Coriander powder...1tspn
  12. turmeric powder....1tspn
  13. Garam masala...1tspn
  14. Red chilli powder...1tspn
  15. A handful of coriander leaves
  16. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash & cut the pointed gourd first.Marinate with salt & red chilli powder.
  2. Make a paste of garlic,onion, cashew nuts,green chilli,sugar & curd.Coconut can be replaced with cashew nuts.
  3. Heat oil , toss & fry the marinated pointed gourds for few minutes.Take out from oil then.
  4. Now add cumin seeds in the same oil & let it crackle.
  5. Add spice paste , ginger paste & fry it for few minutes.
  6. Add all spices & salt.Stir it constantly.
  7. When the spice mixture will start to leave oil, add 2 cup of hot water then.
  8. Add fried pointed gourd now.Cover it & let it boil .
  9. After some time open the lid & check salt & gravy.If it is ok, then add coriander leaves & garam masala.
  10. Its ready now.Serve it with rice or roti.
