About Steam vada Recipe

This vada is my mammas magic recipe .actually this recipe belong to southern cuisine .but she made it more delightful because it is full of love .it is zero oil recipe so ig is healthy also

Steam vada

Ingredients to make Steam vada

  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 1/2 cup tuvar dal
  • 1/ cup mung dal
  • 1/2 tsp - fennal seeds
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • salt
  • 2 tbsp curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 4 chilli finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder

How to make Steam vada

  1. Soake all dal 2-3 hour
  2. Drain the excess water from the dals and grind the dals coarsely without adding water. 
  3. Add the chopped onions, chopped green chillies, ginger pieces, chopped curry leaves, coriander leaves, crushed fennel seeds and salt to the ground batter and mix everything well.
  4. Make small balls with the palms and flatten them. Make a hole in center of vada.
  5. Arrange the flattened vadas over the idly plates lined with parchment paper.
  6. Steam cook for 10-15 minutes in an idly cooker and enjoy warm with ketchup or chutneys.
