ABOUT Palak Chicken RECIPE

Chicken cooked in a blanched palak paste.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken 1 kg
  2. Green Spinach (palak) 1.5 kg - blanched and pureed
  3. Coriander leaves 100 gm, blanched and pureed along with the spinach
  4. Coriander powder 6 tbsp
  5. Salt
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp
  7. Red chilli powder as per taste
  8. 2 medium onion paste
  9. Refined oil
  10. 2 tbspn ginger-garlic paste
  11. 3 medium sized tomatoes paste
  12. Water
  13. Garam masala powder

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with salt, red chilli powder and coriander powder.
  2. With the help of a fork, make some scratches in the chicken pieces. Keep aside for half an hour.
  3. Now in a pan, drizzle some oil and shallow fry the chicken pieces.
  4. In the same pan add some more oil and add the onion and ginger-garlic paste.
  5. Once it turns golden and the oil starts separating, add the tomato paste. When the gravy starts releasing oil, add salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  6. Then add the palak and coriander puree. Mix it well. When oil starts separating, add the chicken pieces and mix well.
  7. Add water and cover the lid till the chicken is nice and tender and the gravy is as per your required consistency. Add garam masala just before removing from the flame.
  8. Serve it hot with roti, naan and rice.
