ABOUT Microwave Instant Dhokla RECIPE

Prepare the dhokla in no time when your guests arrive or make it as a tea time snack!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup gram flour
  2. 2 tablespoons Rava Sooji/ Semolina
  3. 3 tablespoons Yogurt
  4. Salt as per taste
  5. 3 teaspoons Sugar
  6. 1 tablespoon, heaped Ginger-Green Chilli Paste
  7. 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  8. 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  9. 1 teaspoon Eno fruit salt
  10. Water to make the batter
  11. For Tempering:
  12. 2 tablespoons oil
  13. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  14. 1 teaspoon Hing /Asafoetida
  15. 2 Green Chillies,Slit
  16. 2 Sprigs of Coriander Leaves/Cilantro, finely chopped
  17. 2 tablespoon Grated Coconut
  18. 1/4th Cup + 2 tablespoon of water for the tadka
  19. Salt as per need
  20. 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. First, in a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients except the fruit salt and water. Mix well.
  2. Now slowly add water in batches to make a smooth dough. Remember that the consistency of the dough should be that of Idli batter.
  3. Now let this batter sit for 5 minutes. Then add the fruit salt to it. Mix well, the mixture will start frothing.
  4. Now take a microwave safe bowl. Apply oil to all sides of the bowl. Pour the entire mixture in the bowl. Cover with a tissue paper.
  5. Microwave it for 2 and 1/2 Minutes. Take the bowl out. Uncover the bowl.
  6. Be careful the contents of the bowl is very hot at this point. Cut and check, if the dhokla is done the knife will come out clean. Or you can microwave it for another 30 seconds.
  7. In a pan, add oil to heat. When it's hot, add all the ingredients mentioned for tampering, except the grated coconut. When it splutters add water, salt and sugar.
  8. Let it boil for a minute or less and turn off the gas. Now pour this mixture over the dhokla, sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
  9. Let the tadka water sink in well. When cooled, cut the dhokla into desired shapes and serve with hot tea!
