About Luchi Cholar Daal Recipe

It is one of the most relished recipes of West Bengal, from a land that is famous for it's fish curries and meat, I bring you a vegetarian recipe.

Luchi Cholar Daal

Ingredients to make Luchi Cholar Daal

  • Split bengal gram 200 grams
  • ginger 1 inch
  • green chillies 4
  • Small sized tomatoes 2
  • mustard seeds for seasoning
  • salt to taste
  • Pinch of sugar
  • Edible oil
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • bay leaves 2
  • Red chillies 2

How to make Luchi Cholar Daal

  1. Soak the split bengal gram or chana dal for an hour, then wash it and boil it.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and put in the mustard seeds, once they start spluttering put in the bay leaves, sliced ginger and green chilli paste, then put in the whole red chilies.
  3. Next, put in the pureed tomatoes and let it cook.
  4. Now add the grated coconut and stir for a minute. Next, add in sugar and salt to taste.
  5. At last put in the boiled dal and bring it to boil together.
  6. Serve it hot.

My Tip:

Add a pinch of sugar as it is one of the key ingredients and adds colour to the dish as well.

hii sorry for replying so late. luchi is preapred by kneading all purpose flour with water and two teaspoons of oil , make small portions of this dough and roll these portions into small rounds and deep fry them

sorry poonam for replying so late. For luchi you have to knead all purpose flour with two teaspoon of oil and water. divide the dough into small portions . roll these small portions into small roundrels and deep fry.
