ABOUT Phirni RECIPE

A traditionl dessert for eid and easy to make. Most popular sweet dish in India. Phirni make with milk and rice and lots of dry fruits. My kid's all time favourite dish. Everyone love this authentic homemade sweet.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Milk 1 litr
  2. Rice 1/4th cup
  3. Sugar 3/4th cup
  4. Chopped almonds 7-8
  5. Kewra essence 1/2 tsp
  6. 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. WASH 1/4 TH CUP RICE, SOAK IN WATER FOR 3-4 MINS
  2. PAT DRY USING A CLEAN KITCHEN CLOTH
  3. ADD TO A MIXER JAR, GRIND COARSELY
  4. THE GROUND RICE SHOULD RESEMBLE SEMOLINA / SUJI IN TEXTURE
  5. BOIL 1 LITRE MILK IN A HEAVY BOTTOMED PAN, STIRRING CONTINUOUSLY TILL THICK
  6. ADD THE GROUND RICE, STIR & COOK FOR 20 MINS ON LOW HEAT TILL THE MIXTURE TURNS CREAMY
  7. ADD 3/4 CUP SUGAR, MIX & SIMMER ON LOW HEAT FOR 10 MINS UNTIL IT TURNS THICK
  8. IT'S DONE NOW, TAKE OFF HEAT, ALLOW IT TO COOL
  9. ADD 1/4 TSP CARDAMOM POWDER, MIX WELL
  10. ADD 1/2 TSP KEWRA ESSENCE
  11. TRANSFER TO A SERVING BOWL, GARNISH WITH ALMOND SLIVERS, REFRIGERATE FOR 2-3 HOURS
  12. SERVE CHILLED
