ABOUT Apple Pomegranate Clafoutis with a twist RECIPE

Clafoutis is a baked French dessert . Traditionally , black berries were used in Clafoutis along with butter , sugar , all purpose flower to form a flan like smooth batter . As , I wanted to add heathy ingredients , I omitted Maida and sugar in my recipe . Instead , I have included whole wheat flour , honey along with the goodness of fresh apples , pomegranates and eggs . Another twist is this Clafoutis is baked in a cooker .

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Whole milk 1 cup equals 150 ml
  2. Large eggs 2
  3. whole wheat flour 1/2 cup
  4. Himalayan pink salt a big pinch
  5. Honey 4 tablespoons
  6. Vanilla extract 3/4 teaspoon
  7. Fresh cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Butter at room temperature 3 tablespoons
  9. Pomegranate pearls 4 tablespoons
  10. Apple large 1 peeled , cored and thinly sliced .
  11. Lime juice 3 tablespoons
  12. Honey to drizzle
  13. Butter for greasing.

Instructions

  1. Preheat cooker with salt for 15 minutes in low heat .
  2. Peel , core and cut a large Apple into thin slices .
  3. Dip apple slices in fresh lime juice.Keep them aside . Lime prevents apples from discolouration.
  4. In a wide bowl , take 1 cup equals 150 ml whole milk .
  5. Add 2 large eggs .
  6. Add 4 tablespoons honey .
  7. Add 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract .
  8. Add a big pinch Himalayan pink salt.
  9. Add a teaspoon fresh cinnamon powder.
  10. Add 3 tablespoons room temperature butter .
  11. Whisk the mixture until the butter melts completely .
  12. Add 1/2 cup wheat flour gradually while whisking in other hand . Form a smooth lump free batter.
  13. Grease butter in a baking tin .
  14. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons pomegranate pearls in the tin .
  15. Pour in the Clafoutis batter on top of the pomegranate pearls .
  16. Sprinkle a teaspoon of pomegranate pearls on top . Arrange the Apple slices one by one to form a
  17. circle on top of the batter .
  18. Sprinkle the remaining pomegranate pearls .
  19. Place the baking tin inside the preheated cooker. Close the cooker . Bake for 30 minutes in medium
  20. heat . Baked Clafoutis puffs up with golden crusty appearance . A clean fork equals perfect bake.
  21. Take out the tin from the cooker . Drizzle honey on the warm Clafoutis just before serving .
  22. Serve warm immediately . Relish .
